Aurangzeb (AH 1068-148 / AD1658-1707)

Aurangzeb introduced a major change in Mughal coinage. He abolished Kalima from the coinage and introduced a new Julus formula which runs as, sanah….julus maimanat manus zarb …that is ‘Struck at the (mint name) in the year (the regnal year) of the accession associated with prosperity’. This pattern was invariable followed by his successors.
